Choose the route by how much you need
Leather is needed by armor and many Pal Gear recipes, so the right method changes with the size of the shortage. Buying avoids a detour when one saddle is blocked. Hunting creates a faster pile when Gold is tight. A Surfent Ranch is slower to start but removes repeated hunting from the long-term loop.
Do not follow pre-1.0 answers that say Ranch production is impossible. Current 1.0 references list Surfent as the passive Leather producer.
- Need it now
- Buy a small batch from a Wandering Merchant
- Early active farm
- Hunt common Leather-dropping Pals
- Passive supply
- Assign Surfent to a Ranch
- Best long-term use
- Keep the Ranch running between crafting sessions
Run an early Leather circuit
- 01
Fast travel to Sea Breeze Archipelago Church for packs that can include Rushoar, Fuack, Direhowl, Eikthyrdeer and Nitewing.
- 02
Use Sealed Realm of the Ardent as an alternative route for Fuack, Melpaca and Direhowl.
- 03
Defeat or capture targets as you sweep away from the waypoint instead of waiting on one exact spawn.
- 04
Return to storage when weight or repair needs begin slowing the circuit.
Set up passive Leather with Surfent
- 01
Catch Surfent in shallow water; the Ravine Entrance area is a practical current reference point.
- 02
Build a Ranch inside a base with a clear entrance and nearby food.
- 03
Assign Surfent to the base, then manually place it at the Ranch if another job distracts it.
- 04
Add short-path storage and enough Transporting capacity to clear drops from the floor.
- 05
Watch for one Leather drop and one completed transport before treating the setup as stable.
Diagnose a Ranch that produces nothing
Passive production is a background supply, not the fastest emergency farm. If a recipe is blocked now, finish the batch actively and use Surfent to prevent the next shortage.
- Surfent leaves
- Clear the path and reassign it to the Ranch
- Drops stay outside
- Add Transporting and closer storage
- No urgent output
- Use hunting or a merchant for today's recipe
- Guide says impossible
- Check whether it predates Palworld 1.0
