Choose the safe route before the dense route
Sulfur appears as distinct yellow rock. The densest route is not automatically the right first route: a player who cannot survive the volcano will lose more time to heat, enemies and recovery than the extra nodes save.
Collect a small amount locally for the first ammunition bottleneck, then unlock the volcano route when heat protection and travel make it repeatable.
- First pieces
- Dungeon nodes or Twilight Dunes
- Bulk field route
- Mount Obsidian
- Landmark
- Eternal Pyre Tower fast-travel area
- Main use
- Gunpowder and later production materials
Prepare for Mount Obsidian
- 01
Equip heat protection that keeps the volcano trip stable instead of relying on food or healing alone.
- 02
Bring a reliable mount, mining tool and enough free carry weight for a deliberate Sulfur batch.
- 03
Unlock the Eternal Pyre Tower Entrance fast-travel point before treating the area as a farm.
- 04
Keep a return option available; do not continue deeper when armor durability or temperature protection is failing.
Run the Eternal Pyre route
- 01
Start at the Eternal Pyre Tower side of the volcanic crater.
- 02
Scan the crater edge and nearby ground for yellow nodes instead of descending toward lava for every visible rock.
- 03
Mine the cluster, watch carry weight, and avoid turning the farm into an unrelated boss or exploration run.
- 04
Return through the fast-travel point, then move Sulfur directly to the storage feeding Gunpowder production.
- 05
Before repeating, check whether Sulfur or Charcoal is now the actual production bottleneck.
Avoid outdated Sulfur advice
Many ranking pages still surface a 2024 guide with old technology levels and build costs. The geographic idea—yellow rocks in dungeons, desert and volcano—remains useful, but old unlock numbers are not evidence for the current tree.
Use the current Technology menu for any base-production structure. This page deliberately does not reproduce the obsolete Sulfur Mine level or recipe from pre-1.0 articles.
